Maria Mora Enamorada 2012 Red
Region
The Alentejo Demarcated Region was founded only in 1988, however there are already traces of wine culture since Roman times, particularly in the use of clay jars, which are still used. Alentejo means "beyond the Tagus River" and it is this river that borders the northern region. This flat region, low altitude, has extensive plantations of several hundred hectares of vineyards. The intense heat that is felt here in the summer, makes the grapes reach maturation excellent, with a lot of concentration. The wines are very aromatic and smooth and have already achieved a considerable international reputation.
Vineyards
The 60 hectares of vines follow the traditional vine varieties with Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, Trincadeira, Aragonez and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is separated into several large expanse of plots planted in essentially sandy terrain.
Winemaking
The grapes were harvested by hand, in small boxes of 18 kg, according to a careful selection of the best grapes in the vineyard. 3 tons of grapes from the best parcels of Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet and Syrah which added 10% Cabernet Sauvignon selected. The grapes were stripped to a small stainless steel tank, 24 which macerated at low temperature, before starting the fermentation. Fermentation took place slowly, with indigenous yeasts, with gentle pumping. After fermentation, it was discharged into containers into a stainless steel tank where naturally decanted, then moving for a new selection of barrels and used, where it remained for 14 months until the time of bottling. After bottling the wine remained about 6 months in cool basement

Deep color and concentrated ruby, black fruit aromas, hints of spice and menthol. The palate is dense with firm tannins, balanced acidity and a very intense and spicy end. |
