Grande Escolha 2011 Red
Concept
Wine produced from the traditional Douro grapes, namely the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Sousão, reflecting the character of their region of the lower Corgo, with consistent quality from year to year. Full, fragrant wine, associating concentration and elegance, the style of the Douro region.
Vintage
The 2011 vintage ran with moderate temperatures, no rain, and the grapes achieve a proper degree of ripeness to various types of wines produced. Harvest, decided after consideration of balls, ran from 14 to 25 September, arriving the grapes in excellent health. Transport to the winery made in boxes of 25 kg.
Technology
The grapes, at the ideal moment of ripeness, were harvested manually, destemmed and fermented, with prolonged fermentation in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine aged in French oak for 12 months. After bottling in July 2013, the wine aged in bottle for 8 months before setting off to the market. 3300 bottles were produced.
Description
A deep and rich ruby color, intense aroma of ripe fruit and some vegetable, with easy perception of the notes of vanilla, coconut and chocolate, typical of the stage in wood. In the mouth the body is well balanced by acidity and alcohol, which gives it an aging capacity and makes it an adequate companion for meat dishes in the oven.
