Quinta de S. José Reserva 2014 Red
Region
The grapes that gave rise to this wine come from different vineyard plots of Quinta de S. José, located in the Cima Corgo, very close to the Douro River, with an altitude ranging from 150 to 300 meters.
Northern Exposure and very schist soil.
Vinification and Stage
Grapes harvested by hand, for 25 kg boxes in its ideal point of ripeness; intending to show a vigorous maturity, leading to higher aromatic and polyphenolic concentrations. After soft crushing and total destemming, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel and mill vats, allowing the quality of constituents present in films of very ripe grapes pass smoothly into the wine.
After malolactic fermentation, the wine aged in new barrels and used French oak 400 liters for approximately 12 months.

Tasting | |
Purple colour and very deep.
Very complex aromas and distinct predominantly the fruity and floral character with spicy notes, mint fresh from the wood very discreet and well integrated into the wine.
In the mouth shows fruit complexity with high level of tannins that give it a long aftertaste.
14º-16ºC | |
This balanced combination of power and elegance strongly contributes to the aging potential, so that the wine would benefit from some years in the bottle.
