Region
The Demarcated Region is one of the oldest Wine Regions of Portugal, dating back to 1908. Located in the center of Portugal, in the mountainous region ranging from 400 to 700m above sea level, has as a reference point the Serra da Estrela, the most High continental Portugal. vineyards
This wine is from a single vineyard of approximately 1ha with a prime location in front of the central massif of the Serra da Estrela. The vineyard sees snow during the winter period more stringent hence its name. The vineyard follows the traditional vine varieties and was planted in a poor granitic, with large rocky outcrops. The entire vineyard is in integrated production system emphasizing quality and the environment.
winemaking
The harvest took place in early September. The grapes were harvested by hand, in small boxes of 18 kg, according to a careful selection of the best grapes in the vineyard. The grapes were chilled before crushing and made cold maceration in the press and then were pressed. Alcoholic fermentation began in stainless steel tank and finished in new French oak barrels. The wine aged in oak barrels for six months and then bottled.
